Top Year-Round Open Amuement Parks

For some of us in the Northern part of the United States, we don't have the opportunity to attend amusement parks that are open all year round. At best we have April to October to experience the thrills. For people in the South, they have a chance to enjoy these thrills all year round. Here is the list of the top year-round open amusement parks.

Walt Disney World- Located in Orlando, Florida, Walt-Disney World is one of the most well known amusement parks in the World.

Six Flags Magic Mountain- This amusement park is located in beautiful Los Angelas, California and boasts fourteen roller coasters.

Knott's Berry Farm- Known as "California's Best Theme Park", Knott's Berry Farm is located in Buena Park, California. This park is owned by Cedar Fair Company so you know its going to be great.

Six Flags Over Texas- Located in Arlington, Texas, Six Flags Over Texas brings your love of Texas and mixes it with exciting thrills.

LegoLand California- Attention Lego lovers: here is your chance to experience your childhood while feeling like your living in a World of Lego's.

Universal Studios Orlando- Named the "Best Theme Park" by Trip Advisor. This theme park goes above and beyond to bring you the best themed experience you can have. The Harry Potter World is a must visit part of the park.

Make one of these theme parks your winter getaway and feel the warm breeze through your hair as you riding down those tracks at 60 mph. Embrace the winter months!

Six Flags Black Friday Deals

Black Friday is known as the best shopping day of the year. The reason it is known as the best is because of the great deals and the amount of them available. Loads of businesses Worldwide participate in Black Friday festivities. These businesses include amusement parks! Many amusement parks will be having great sales on season passes for the 2016 operating season.
The best amusement park deals I found were at Six Flags.  Six Flags is having a Black Friday/Cyber Monday deal that includes the following:
1.       Save up to 64% off the summer price
2.       Pay nothing until March 2016
3.       Exclusive Perks
4.       Free upgrade to Gold level
5.       Free parking until the end of 2016
6.       Never offer a better deal!
To get a season pass, you can get it for $51.99 or $5.17/month. The original summer price is $144.99 or $12.08/month. That is huge savings!! Make sure to visit sixflags.com and purchase your 2016 season pass so you can visit endless times in 2016. In two visits to Six Flags, you will already have gotten your money’s worth so make the most visits you can. The pass is also available
Cedar Point and Disney have yet to release their Black Friday ads. Cedar Point traditionally has had a good deal on payment plans for their season passes. For sure the Disney store will have Black Friday deals but I am still unsure if they will have park discounts this year.
Have a good Thanksgiving and Black Friday!

"X-Flight" The Dissapointment

Today’s blog post will be reviewing one of Six Flag’s newer roller coasters, X-Flight. X-flight official took off on May 16, 2012. During that time it was the second wing coaster to be built in the United States and only the fourth in the World! It was also the FIRST wing coaster to be announced throughout the entire North America.

X-Flight travels up to 120 feet and reaches speeds of 55mph with a total length of 3,000 feet. Those stats right there are pretty much the reason why I am not a fan of this ride. First off the height of the coaster is nothing spectacular. I like tall roller coasters and this is far from one. I might as well go to the Ferris wheel.  Secondly, the speed of the coaster is nothing amazing. 55 mph is an average roller coaster speed. I like something with an awesome speed.

As for the wing coaster in general,  wing coasters are interesting roller coasters and can be somewhat fun. The problem with these types of coasters is that the way they are built restricts them from going too fast and high. The experience of you being hanging away from the tracks is pretty much the same simulated feel of a typically feet dangling coaster.

In conclusion, I would recommend this ride depending on its wait time. If it’s a long wait, go to something better like Raging Bull. If it’s a short line, you might as well hop on just to say you rode X-Flight.

"The" Boss" Six Flags St. Louis Review

Today I will be reviewing “The Boss” at Six Flags St. Louis. The Boss opened in 2000 and has been giving guests a real treat ever since. “The Boss” is 5,051 feet long and a max height of 125 feet. It reaches speeds of 66 mph and lasts 3 minutes! This wooden coaster takes you down four drops, crossovers, and high-banked turns.
Let me first say that this ride isn’t for the fainted of heart. This ride jerks you in any which way possible. From the drop to the crazy turns, this ride is the definition of crazy. Some people say this ride is too crazy for them. The reason being is, since it is a wooden roller coaster, it can very rough and cause headaches. For me, I have never had any problems with riding it. Of course I can feel the jerkiness but that’s what makes wooden roller coasters so great.
I would recommend riding this ride at night! It feels like a completely different ride when its being rode at night. I don’t know if it is because of the lack of lights or what, but it is so much fun. As for Six Flags St. Louis, I feel that this is the best ride at the park. In fact, I think it is the best roller coaster in the state of Missouri. Six Flags St. Louis has lots of good coasters, but “The Boss” is still my favorite. Ride it and make sure to put your hands up. Trust me, you won’t regret it.

Halloween 2015

With Halloween quickly approaching, a lot of amusement parks are in full force for their Halloween themed parks. Additionally, this weekend is the last weekend that some parks are open for the season. So depending on your location, this weekend could be your last chance to get some thrills in before the next thrill or driving through snow. With the help of the Travel Channel, we will look at the top amusement park scary themed parks.
My favorite spooktacular event of the year is Fright Fest at Six Flags Great America in Gurnee, IL. They put a lot of time and effort into creating lots of scary attractions. The more the sun goes down, the scarier it gets.
Another well-known scary park is Halloween Haunt at Kinds Island. They add multiple mazes, scare zones, and unique experiences. If you don't like to be scared, then I recommend staying away from scare zones or the park all together.
If you are down South, you should try and make it to Howl-O-Scream at Busch Gardens Tampa. They have seven haunted houses! That is way more scaring than the average person needs in a lifetime! If getting constantly scared isn't your thing, they have Halloween themed shows you can go and watch too. Either way your going to be scared at Busch Gardens. Busch Gardens Williamsburg Busch Garden also offers a frightening park.
Halloween comes once a year, so make the most of it. I strongly recommend visiting your local amusement park and experience a thrill that you can only experience once a year. Please note, eating too much Halloween candy and then riding roller coasters may result in something not so fun. :0

Top 2016 Ride Picks

There are lots of new and exciting things happening in the roller coaster world for 2016. With thick competition, theme parks need to do all they can to make the best ride experience possible. Today I am going to highlight my top rides to check out in 2016:

Valravn- Cedar Point- This is my top pick for must-see in 2016. Located at the "Roller Coaster Capital of the World," this dive coaster will be tall, fast, and steep.

Lightning Rod- DollyWood- This crazy wooden-hybrid coaster goes 73mph with a 165-foot drop. This ride is nestled in the woods of the Smoky Mountains at DollyWood park in Tennessee.

Total Mayhem- Six Flags Great Adventure- This is only the second 4-D coaster to be built in the World. It is 120-feet tall with two 90-degree raven drops. 4-D coasters are the next generation of coasters and let you experience roller coasters like no other.

The Joker- Six Flags Discovery Kingdom- Green and purple track make this wooden-hybrid coaster a top must-see in 2016. It travel 53mph with barrel rolls and inversions.

Mako- SeaWorld- This 200-foot hypercoaster shoots around SeaWorld Orlando to get an above view of the park. This is the longest, fastest, and tallest roller coaster in Orlando, Florida!

GaleForce- Ocean City- GaleForce launches you 64mph at one of its three launches. It is 125-feet tall and you go beyond 90 degrees at times. This is an interesting and different roller coaster.

Make sure to check out these coasters once they are built and ready to ride!

RollerCoaster Tycoon Recommendation

Can’t get enough of roller coasters but can’t visit an amusement park every day? If so, then I have the perfect product for you! RollerCoaster Tycoon videogame is the perfect game for coaster enthusiasts. RollerCoaster Tycoon has been around since 1999.Since then it has been making quite a thrill in the gaming industry.

RollerCoaster Tycoon has multiple versions. RollerCoaster Tycoon 1, 2,3,4, and World. The game has really developed over the years and has become more realistic every time. I myself love this game. I get to see what it is like to run an amusement park on my own, which is harder than you think. You have to keep your guests happy, be profitable, and maintain your park in the highest quality.

The best part of the whole game is creating the roller coasters. They have many roller coaster types and themes to pick from. You can create a simple coaster to an extravagant crazy coaster. Then you can do a POV ride along and experience the coaster you just made. Also, you can add thrill rides, food stands, landscape, etc. to really make your park into a legitimate amusement park.

The biggest news recently is the announcement of RollerCoaster Tycoon World. The release date is December 10th, 2015 and preordering is available now. The price will be $50 but will include beta version in late October.  It looks awesome and I will be asking for this game for Christmas.

In conclusion, I definitely recommend this product. I think they create a flawless game that will entertain you, but be careful because it can get addicting.

Roller Coaster World Records

Today's blog post will be dedicated to talking about roller coaster World records. Every year amusement parks try to create the best coasters possible and aim to beat some kind of World record. I will be using Roller Coaster World Records and also help from Coaster101. Lets begin with those records.

We will begin with the tallest roller coaster in the World. Kingda Ka at Six Flags Great Adventure reaches a height of 456 feet high. It is also the second fastest roller coaster at 128mph. Other contendors for height are Top Thrill Dragster and Superman.

Next we will review the fastest roller coasters in the World. In first place is Formula Rossa at Ferrari World in Dubai. It launches you at a staggering 149mph. That is over double the average interstate speed limit (70mph). Second is Kinga Ka and Top Thrill Dragster is third.

Additionally, there are even records for the steepest drop angle. The record is help by Takabisha at Fuji-Q Highland in Japan. The coasters drop is at a 121 degree angle. You have to check out the POV video to really get a feel for how steep this coaster is. Its close followers are the "Green Latern Coaster" and "Crazy Bird."

Finally, we have the longest coaster lengths in the World. The longest roller coaster in the World is the Steel Dragon 2000 at Nagashima Spa Land in Japan. It is 8,133 feet long, which is 1.54 miles long! It also last a whopping four minutes! Runner-up to this award is "The Ultimate" followed by "Fujiyama."

Records are huge marketing tools that amusement parks use, so parks are continuously looking for new and improved ways to beat these records.

Top Thrill Dragster Review

Today I am going to review the popular roller coaster, Top Thrill Dragster. This coaster is located at Cedar Point in Sandusky, Ohio.  What makes this coaster so great is its height and speed. At one point, this was the tallest and fastest roller coaster in the World. Top Thrill Dragster stands at 430 feet tall and goes a whopping 120 mph in less than four seconds!  You have to see it to believe it.
What I love so much about this ride is that it truly goes along with its dragster theme. Once on the ride, you pull up to the launching zone where there is racetrack starting lights just like at a real drag racing event. Along the right side of the dragster car there are bleachers with spectators sitting, waiting for you to launch. To me, this point is the scariest part of the ride. You are waiting for what feels like hours at this launch pad before you are get shot 120 mph.
The ride lasts about 17 seconds, but in my opinion, you don’t realize where you are till about the 10th second due to the speed. The ride length is disappointment along with the wait time.  This ride boasts a long line always and if the line becomes too long, you might not even get to ride. The reason is because this ride is very unreliable. It is breaking down constantly and allows for longer waits.
My final opinion on this roller coaster is that I do recommend riding it. I think it takes the right person to ride it because it really is a scary roller coaster. I give it 8 out of 10 on overall quality of the ride. Go check it out and tell me what you think of Top Thrill Dragster at Cedar Point.
All facts come from the Cedar Point website at Cedarpoint.com
