Top Thrill Dragster Review

             Today I am going to review the popular roller coaster, Top Thrill Dragster. This coaster is located at Cedar Point in Sandusky, Ohio.  What makes this coaster so great is its height and speed. At one point, this was the tallest and fastest roller coaster in the World. Top Thrill Dragster stands at 430 feet tall and goes a whopping 120 mph in less than four seconds!  You have to see it to believe it.

                What I love so much about this ride is that it truly goes along with its dragster theme. Once on the ride, you pull up to the launching zone where there is racetrack starting lights just like at a real drag racing event. Along the right side of the dragster car there are bleachers with spectators sitting, waiting for you to launch. To me, this point is the scariest part of the ride. You are waiting for what feels like hours at this launch pad before you are get shot 120 mph.

                The ride lasts about 17 seconds, but in my opinion, you don’t realize where you are till about the 10^th second due to the speed. The ride length is disappointment along with the wait time.  This ride boasts a long line always and if the line becomes too long, you might not even get to ride. The reason is because this ride is very unreliable. It is breaking down constantly and allows for longer waits.

                My final opinion on this roller coaster is that I do recommend riding it. I think it takes the right person to ride it because it really is a scary roller coaster. I give it 8 out of 10 on overall quality of the ride. Go check it out and tell me what you think of Top Thrill Dragster at Cedar Point.

"The Coaster Critic" Blog Analyzation

                There are lots and lots of blogs based around roller coasters, including this one. There is one certain blog I want to take the time to analyze one of the most popular roller coaster blogs in the World. “The Coaster Critic” is a professional blog created by Joel Bullock. His blog has many different topics related to theme parks from tips to reviews to coasterology.

                I really like the content that “The Coaster Critic” delivers. What I like most about his blog is that he does lots of top ten blog posts for rides and parks.  The best blog post I’ve read is his annual top ten new roller coasters of the year. He also delivers up to date news, which is great since it is coming from a professional roller coaster critic compared to getting the news from biased news stations.

                This blog also really engages with the reader. Almost all the blog posts have comments on them so the author is really connecting with its readers. Whenever an author of a blog is engaging and is connecting with the reader, then the reader will continuously follow the blog, which is the whole point of having a blog. My blog and “The Coaster Critic” basically have the same purpose of writing our blogs. My goal is to connect and engage with you, the reader.

                Finally, “The Coaster Critic” blog has an absolutely stunning website design. It is very professional and makes you want to explore more and more throughout the blog page. To conclude, all in all I would really recommend this blog. If you are a true coaster enthusiast like me, then you would really enjoy reading that blog. Remember to still read my blog though!

Six Flags Great America Review

There are 23 Six Flags throughout the World, most of which are in the United States. Today's blog post will be reviewing one of the best Six Flags amusement parks, Six Flags Great America. Great America is located in Gurnee, IL and opened in 1976. Great America is home to 9 roller coasters. The favorite roller coaster for many years would have to be Raging Bull. It is a Western theme steel coaster. With a max speed of 73 mph it is a perfect ride to put your hands up. I will say that this ride generally has a long line. It is always usually at least an hour long, which in my opinion sums up Great America in general. This amusement park always has long lines no matter when you go. This is weird since its closest sister park, Six Flags St. Louis generally has short lines.

                Great America’s most recent addition was Goliath in 2014. This is a wooden hybrid coaster that actually goes up-side down.  This is the craziest wooden coaster I have ever been on, racing at a speed of 72 mph. The only down fall is that it is only a 180 foot drop.  Other coasters there include, Superman, Batman, Demon, Viper, American Eagle, X-Flight, Vertical Velocity.  This park also includes Hurricane Harbor waterpark, so guests can cool down during those hot summer days.  

                To summarize Six Flags Great America, I would say it is a little pricey for the amount of wait time you will experience. Season Passes are great if you plan on going for more than one day at of the operating season. In contrast, the park is very clean and everyone is very helpful. My recommendation is to buy tickets online or find coupons that you can bring to the gate to purchase tickets. Flash Pass is available too which may be beneficial if you don’t like lines like I do. Definitely a park to give a try though!

NEW--Cedar Point 2016

                “The Roller Coaster Capital of the World” just got bigger! Cedar Point amusement park in Sandusky, Ohio is receiving its newest coaster in the 2016 season. After last year’s disappointing announcement, this years was sure an eye opener. Next year Cedar Point will debut the World’s tallest, fastest, and longest dive coaster. Valravn, the coasters name, will sure be one for the record book. Here is its specific stats:

  Track length: 3,415 feet

  Height of first hill: 223 feet

  Angle of descent: 90 degrees

  Maximum speed: 75 mph

  Duration: 3 minutes, 23 seconds

  Capacity: 1,200 riders per hour

This coaster is being created by Bolliger & Mabillard, just like this coasters biggest rival, the Griffon. The Griffon is also a dive coaster at Busch Gardens in Virginia. I rode that coaster before and thought it was great so I assume Valravn should be better since it’s taller, faster, and longer. The only disappointment in Valravn is that it does not include gliding through water like the Griffon has.

                At a staggering $20 million dollars, Cedar Point guests will get to experience something brand new. The dive coaster has two large drops. The first major drop brakes and suspends you at the top of the first hill for a few seconds before dropping you down the 90 degree hill. The second hill brakes but does not fully come to a stop before dropping you.  With three upside-down segments, it is sure to give riders the adrenaline rush they are looking for.
